The Widdle Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization assisting to the needs of less fortunate animals in Central Texas through emergency and long-term funding and services.
The Widdle Foundation provides awareness services and promotes research for specific illnesses and diseases found in domesticated animals to help curb veterinary expenses and prevent unnecessary deaths. These services will be combined with the Education program, and the information will be provided through our website and printed materials. We will also be going out into the community to dog shows, training classes, adoption events, and other similar venues, where you can find us at a table or booth to learn more!
The Widdle Foundation provides education to the general public about the care and training of dogs. Education will be provided through freely-accessible information on our website and links to other informational websites; distributed informational brochures and other materials prepared by The Widdle Foundation and other pet-focused organizations; and maintaining tables and booths staffed by Directors, Officers, and Volunteers at dog-related events - dog shows, training classes, adoption events, etc. Our goals also include organizing and operating our own training classes and adoption events, as well as conducting other activities to encourage community involvement in fun ways!
As The Widdle Foundation grows, our plans include building a Shelter and Sanctuary. We will then be able to take ownership of unwanted, neglected, and/or abused dogs and other domestic and farm animals. These animals would be surrendered or given to The Widdle Foundation by their owners/fosters, animal shelters, or humane societies to receive full care and shelter until adoptive homes can be found.
The Widdle Foundation will evaluate the temperament, health, and other characteristics of the animals that are rescued for the purpose of determining their preparedness and suitability for placement in an adoptive home. Based upon this assessment, we rehabilitate rescued animals to the extent necessary, if at all, to prepare them for placement in an adoptive home. Rehabilitation is accomplished through obedience and behavioral training and arranging for veterinary care.
The Widdle Foundation will seek out prospective adopters for rescued animals and evaluate each prospective adopter for the purpose of determining their preparedness and suitability for owning a rescued animal. We will transfer ownership of the rescued animal(s) to adopters that have been approved during the evaluation process, if one(s) suitable to that adoptive home is located. The Widdle Foundation, Inc. will provide continuing support and education to adopters in the form of information about the specific animal breed and the care and training of the rescued animal for the remainder of the animal's life.
